In response to inquiries about contingency plans, a senior BCCI official confirmed the board is closely monitoring the situation with relevant authorities. The official assured that all necessary precautions are in place to ensure the match goes ahead as planned. "Yes, we are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the concerned authorities," he said.
'The match is not going anywhere'
The BCCI official further confirmed that the venue for the match will not change. "The match is not going anywhere -- it will be held in Kanpur," he said. He added that they will continue monitoring developments in Kanpur and other venues to ensure a smooth and safe event amid rising tensions ahead of the upcoming Test.
India vs Bangladesh: A look at the Test series
The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh starts on September 19 in Chennai, with the second match in Kanpur on September 27. This series against the Tigers will mark the start of Team India's long Test season, which includes a total of 10 matches across three series. After Bangladesh, India will take on New Zealand at home followed by a tour of Australia. Earlier, the BCCI announced a 16-member squad for the first encounter against Bangladesh.
