Delighted to welcome back India: Cricket Ireland Chief Executive
"We are delighted to welcome back India Men's team for the first time since 2018, as well as the number one-ranked ODI side - the Black Caps, who were last here in 2017," Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland, said. "Just as important, given we will shortly be heading to a T20 WC, are the two T20I series against South Africa and Afghanistan."
A look at the schedule
India will kick off their away summer by playing two T20Is against Ireland. A second-string Indian side is expected to play there. The Indians will then travel to England to play last summer's rescheduled fifth Test at the Old Trafford in July. Thereafter, India are slated to play six white-ball matches. The limited-overs series include three T20Is and as many ODIs, starting July 7.
India last toured Ireland in 2018
India last toured Ireland in 2018, winning the two-match T20I series 2-0. On the other hand, India lead the unfinished five-match Test series 2-1 in England (2021). The final Test in Manchester got postponed due to COVID-19 scare. The series decider will now be played this year in July. India have a chance to win their first Test series in England since 2007.
