India thrash Afghanistan- Here're the records broken
India thrashed Afghanistan in the one-off Test in Bengaluru inside two days. The hosts took 20 wickets on Friday itself to win the match by an innings and 262 runs. India put up a decent first innings score of 474 runs, before bowling Afghanistan out for 109 and 103 respectively. The Indian spinners played a defining role and were equally backed by the pacers.
It is the biggest win for India in Tests
This is India's biggest win in Test cricket history. India's win by an innings and 262 runs toppled their earlier record of victory by an innings and 239 runs versus Bangladesh in Dhaka, 2007. They had also won by the same margin against Sri Lanka in Nagpur in 2017. This was India's ninth consecutive Test series win at home, further affirming their domination.
Records galore as Afghans bowled out twice on Friday
This is the first Test in India which was completed inside two days. Overall, this was 21st Test which produced a result in two days. This was the fourth instance in which a side was dismissed twice in a single day. Earlier, it had happened in the Test between England and India in 1952. Zimbabwe have suffered this fate twice against New Zealand.
Stat attack- Indian bowlers shine as they pick up 20-wickets
24 wickets fell on Friday which is a new record for Tests held in Asia. Umesh Yadav reached 100 wickets for India in his 37th Test. Ashwin surpassed Zaheer Khan to become the 4th highest wicket-taker for India in Tests. India became the first Asian team to win a Test after bowling less than 400 balls. India took 399 balls to bowl Afghans out.
Indian bowlers need to be lauded
It is also a first instance where India won inside two days. R Ashwin and Jadeja were top class as they picked 11 wickets between them. Ishant Sharma and Umesh impressed, as well, after picking eight wickets in total.
