Team India cannot overlook visitors Bangladesh in upcoming Test series
The Indian cricket team will be wary of the Bangladesh side visiting for a two-match Test series, starting September 19 onward. The two-match series will be played in Chennai and Kanpur, respectively. India have a chance to enhance their position in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. Bangladesh, who stunned Pakistan in the recently concluded Test series, will be eyeing another major scalp.
History for Bangladesh against Pakistan cricket team
Bangladesh's clean sweep over Pakistan will be cherished for a long time. Bangladesh, who have hardly won any Test series abroad, outperformed the hosts by a 2-0 margin. Notably, this was Bangladesh's third Test series win away from home. Their previous two series wins away came against West Indies in 2009 and Zimbabwe in 2021. Bangladesh will be confident to showcase their credentials.
Litton and Mehidy were Bangladesh's star performers
Litton Das played just the two innings against Pakistan and he fired. He managed 56 in the first Test before smashing a solid 138 in the 2nd Test. Notably, Bangladesh were 26/6 in the first innings when Mehidy Hasan Miraz joined Litton and the two floored Pakistan thereafter. Mehidy's all-round show stood tall. He claimed 10 wickets and smashed two fifties (77 and 78).
Bangladesh have several top performers
Bangladesh have several star performers in their side. Mushfiqur Rahim, who scored a majestic ton in the 1st Test versus Pakistan, remains a massive threat in the middle order. Litton and Mehidy would be raring to build on their consistency and thwart Team India. Mehidy and Shakib Al Hasan's spin offerings would help the Tigers on surfaces aiding their bowling.
India go into the series as favorites
India are the favorites against their neighbours but one expects this series to be closely fought. India would be relying on their spin unit for joy. Ravichandran Ashwin's presence lifts this side. With the bat, India have to address their middle order options. Rishabh Pant's return and Virat Kohli's presence are a lift. All eyes would be on Sarfaraz Khan, who impressed against England.
