India beat West Indies in the third T20I match in Chennai to seal the three-match series by a 3-0 margin. Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant played superbly to help India get past a stiff target of 182. West Indies got to 181 after after Nicholas Pooran (53*) helped the side get crucial runs. But some ordinary bowling saw WI lose. Here're the records broken.
Chahal is the highest T20I wicket-taker for India in 2018
Yuzvendra Chahal overtook Kuldeep Yadav to become the highest wicket-taker in T20Is, for India, in the year 2018. Chahal (2/28) now has 18 wickets to his name in 13 matches played this year. He surpassed Kuldeep (17), who got past him earlier in the second T20I. Chahal also has 44 wickets in T20Is and since 2016, he is the second highest wicket-taker for India.
Pooran hits joint-second fastest fifty by WI batsman against India
Nicholas Pooran smashed a 24-ball 53* tonight. The 23-year-old also notched his maiden T20I half-century. The player shared a 87-run stand with Darren Bravo (43*) and powered WI to the total of 181/3. He hit four fours and four sixes in his whirlwind innings. He smashed the joint-second fastest fifty by an WI batsman against India. Johnson Charles holds the record (20 balls).
Rohit joins Guptill in terms of fours hit in T20Is
Rohit Sharma may have missed out on becoming the highest T20I run scorer, but he equaled Martin Guptill in terms of fours hit in T20Is. Rohit, who scored 4 in the 3rd T20I, hit one boundary to get to 200 fours in the format. He has the fourth joint-highest fours in T20Is. Former SL batsman Dilshan has 223 fours and leads the proceedings.
Dhawan goes past 1,000 T20 runs in 2018
Dhawan crossed 1,000 runs in T20 this year. This is the first time he has achieved the feat. Dhawan amassed 497 runs in IPL11 and 572 in international T20s. He is also the second highest T20I scorer in 2018. He is only behind Zaman (576). He is followed by Babar (563) and Rohit (560). The southpaw amassed his 5th T20I fifty in 2018.
Dhawan strikes 8th fifty in T20Is
Dhawan also got to his 8th fifty in T20Is. He got a 50+ score after 5 T20I matches and overall eight. The star-studded opener shared a 130-run stand with Rishabh Pant and that did the damage as West Indies panicked.
Khaleel gives away 23 runs in final over
Khaleel Ahmed gave away an astounding 23 runs in the final over. That was a change of scenario given that he had conceded only 14 in his first three overs.
