India lost the first two Test matches of the series. However, they bounced back in the third Test in Johannesburg, to end the Test series 1-2. This victory means that India remain unbeaten at the Wanderers Stadium in Test cricket. In this tour, Kohli became the 4th fastest player to hit 21 Test hundreds, reaching the landmark in 109 innings.

Kohli also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar as India's top scorer in a three-match Test series in South Africa. Kohli scored 286 runs, whereas, Sachin mustered 241 on the 1996-97 tour.
Kuldeep & Chahal are India's new spin kings
It's not often that you hear spinners have dominated a tour in South Africa. Indian spinners had a successful tour with Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal bagging 33 wickets in the ODI series, which is the most by Indian spinners in a bilateral series. The previous best was 27 against England at home in 2006.

Kuldeep Yadav's 17 wickets and Yuzvendra Chahal's 16 wickets in the ODI series broke the record for the most wickets by an overseas spinner in an ODI bilateral series on South African soil. The previous record was held by West Indies all-rounder Keith Arthurton, who took 12 wickets across seven ODIs during the 1998-99 season.
