Coronavirus outbreak: India vs South Africa ODI series called off
The widespread coronavirus has impacted all sport across the world. Several competitions in all sport have been postponed or cancelled. Following the same, the BCCI has decided to call off the ongoing ODI series between India and South Africa. The decision comes after the board had earlier postponed the Indian Premier League (IPL) till April 15 on Friday.
BCCI makes a sound decision, calls off series
The three-match ODI series started in March 12. However, the first ODI in Dharamsala. was abandoned due to rain. The next two matches were set to be played in Lucknow and Kolkata respectively. Earlier, it was decided that the matches will be played behind closed doors. But now the decision to call off the ODIs was made.
BCCI suspends IPL 2020 till April 15
Meanwhile, the BCCI also decided to suspend the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season till April 15. Further, it could be played behind closed doors. The decision was taken by the top brass of the BCCI. The BCCI said, "We have decided to suspend IPL 2020 till April 15, as a precautionary measure against the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) situation."
England's Test tour of Sri Lanka called off
Also, England's Test tour of Sri Lanka got called off on Friday due to the growing threat of the the COVID-19 pandemic. The ECB confirmed that the aim is to reschedule the series. The decision came when England were playing their final four-day warm-up match.
