India's first-ever Test win in Chennai, 1952
India claimed their first-ever Test win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in 1952. The hosts beat England by an innings and eight runs. England folded for 266 after electing to bat, with Vinoo Mankad taking eight wickets. India responded with a staggering 457/9d, riding on tons from Pankaj Roy and Polly Umrigar. England perished for a mere 183 in the second innings.
India claim special series win over Australia, 2001
The historic Test series win over Australia in 2001 was a turning point for Team India. India, led by Sourav Ganguly, lost the series opener before winning in Kolkata, where they defied a follow-on. The hosts finally defeated Australia in Chennai to claim one of Test greatest Test series wins. Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh took a record 15 wickets in that match (15/217).
India's highest successful run-chase at home, 2008
India stunned England in the 1st Test from the 2008 series in Chennai. The home side chased down a mammoth 387, with Sachin Tendulkar scoring an unbeaten ton. Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh added a century-plus stand after the Indians were down to 224/4 while chasing. To date, this remains India's highest successful run-chase in Test cricket at home.
