Gill played some impressive shots and looked solid in the middle.

However, an absolute ripper from Anderson saw Gill get dismissed.

Rahane's poor show against England continues
Ajinkya Rahane's awful show against England at home was a talking point ahead of the series.
With scores of 1 and 0 in this Test, the numbers fell further.
After surviving a lbw decision, Rahane was packed by Anderson after the ball curled in from a fullish length, breaching Rahane's defence.
The senior batsman now averages 9.14 against England at home.

Team India was all over the place in the first session, losing so many wickets.
With the ball being unpredictable in terms of bounce, it was a challenging period for the hosts.
However, the application could have been much better.
Rishabh Pant's choice of shot was poor.
Washington Sundar was stuck on the crease, choosing the wrong shot.

Anderson was terrific for England
The man of the moment was veteran England pacer Anderson.
The manner in which he ran in and got the wickets helped England.
There was reverse swing on offer and the pitch played its part.
Anderson pitched the ball in the right areas and got his reward.
By removing two wickets in one over, he put England in control.
