India humble Pakistan in Asia Cup: Here're the records broken
All-round India beat Pakistan, in a rather one-sided battle, in the ongoing Asia Cup 2018. It wasn't at a close encounter like many would have expected, as Pakistan disappointed with both bat and ball. Batting first, Pakistan managed a paltry score of 162 runs. In reply, India chased down the target with 126 balls to spare. Here are the records broken.
Here is how the match unfolded in Dubai
Indian bowlers were right on the money as Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/15) removed both the openers early. Shoaib Malik and Babar Azam added 82 runs for the third wicket. Once Babar was dismissed, Pakistan lost the remaining seven wickets for 77 runs. Kedar Jadhav and Jasprit Bumrah picked 5 wickets between them. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan laid the foundation with a 86-run opening stand.
Pakistan suffer first defeat in Dubai after 9 matches
This was the 13th meeting between the two sides at the Asia Cup and India now lead by a 7-5 margin. This was the first time that Pakistan were bowled out for under 200 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in ODIs. After nine successive wins at this venue, Pakistan finally lost an ODI match. Their last defeat was against England in 2015.
Zaman, Malik notch unwanted records
Fakhar Zaman notched an unwanted record as he faced the second highest number of deliveries for scoring a duck in the history of Asia Cup (9). Shoaib Malik was run-out for the 24th time in ODIs. He equaled the record held by former Pakistan legends Javed Miandad and Salim Malik. Kedar Jadhav notched his best figures in ODIs (3/23).
