India defeated NZ in first ODI; Virat scored unbeaten 85
Virat Kohli's unbeaten knock of 85 runs helped India register an easy win over New Zealand in the first ODI match. India chased the target of 191 runs in just 33.1 overs, losing just 4 wickets. Debutant Hardik Pandya was named the 'Player of the Match' for taking three wickets in seven overs. Second ODI match will be played on 20 October in Delhi.

India to face NZ in first ODI today
After a 3-0 whitewash in the test series, India will face New Zealand in the first ODI of the five match series. The match will be played at Dharamshala. 900th ODI match for India
Another milestone will be achieved as India takes on NZ in the first ODI match at Dharamshala. India will play its 900th match of the format and will be the first team to do so. India played first ODI in 1974 against England.
Latham, Southee helped NZ reach 190 runs
India decided to field first after winning the toss, putting NZ to bat first. Debutant Pandya gave India its first breakthrough in the second over of the match and NZ kept losing wickets at regular intervals. From 106/8, Tim Southee and Tom Latham took the NZ innings to 177 before Tim went back at 55 runs. Latham remained not out at 79.
Mishra, Pandya got three wickets each
It would have been not a better day for debutant Hardik Pandya as he took three crucial wickets for India. Hardik took three wickets in seven overs with 31 runs. Spinner Amit Mishra also got three wickets in 8.5 overs giving away 49 runs.
