Australia defeated India 4-2 in the ongoing 2018 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. The world champions Australia remain unbeaten in the tournament and India are yet to win after three games. India were beaten comprehensively by the Aussies, as they succumbed earlier against Argentina before drawing 1-1 against England. Here are the key moments from the game.
Aussies outclass India
After a 0-0 first quarter, Mark Knowles scored the opening goal from a penalty corner. In the 3rd quarter, Aran Zalewski got a free pass and deflected the ball into the net. 10 minutes later, Daniel Beale added the third with a tap in from his fourth attempt. Blake Govers smashed home the fourth with a reverse hit and it was curtains.
India's fightback not enough
After being 4-0 down after the 3rd quarter, India had a mountain to climb. Ramandeep Singh helped India pull back one in 52nd minute. A minute later, Ramandeep scored again with a reverse hit and a late surge was on. With less than three minutes left, India missed a penalty corner and Aussies scripted victory.
India's poor record against Aus
This was the 16th match between India and Australia in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. With this defeat, Indians have now lost 12 times to the Aussies. India are virtually out of the tournament as Australia are through to the finals.
