Even after ODI debacle, India still favorites to win Tests

    What's the story

India went down 1-2 against England in the recently concluded ODI series.

This was the first time that India lost a bilateral ODI series under Virat Kohli's captaincy.

Now the focus for Kohli and his boys will be the upcoming 5-match Test series.

One feels that the change of format could bode well for India.

Can India rise against the hosts? Let's decode.

    India

Why can India still stake claim in Tests?

The 1-2 Test series defeat against South Africa, in 2018, gave an indication that Virat's team knows how to put up a fight.

There were several positives to take from that series and if India can deliver a similar performance, then it shouldn't be difficult to win the upcoming series.

With a lethal batting line-up and a world-class bowling attack, India can overcome England.

    Form

Form of both sides in in 2018

India gave a good account of themselves against South Africa and then went on to beat Afghanistan in the one-off Test, last month.

But the real battle starts now for Kohli and Co.

On the other hand, England lost the Ashes, followed by a defeat against New Zealand and then drawing with Pakistan 1-1.

In Tests, India have all the momentum at this moment.

    Format

    New format, new side!

No doubt India have a better Test squad than England, given the overall balance and quality.

The red ball format is completely different and with fresh players in the set-up, India can start positively.

Number one ranked ODI side England were better with white ball, and it's Test cricket where skills matter more than anything.

In conclusion, India wouldn't come back empty handed.
