India beat Kenya in Intercontinental Cup final
India are the new champions of the Intercontinental Cup after they secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Kenya in the final in Mumbai. Indian captain Sunil Chhetri was the decisive factor yet again as he scored a brace to seal the victory for the Blue Tigers. Over 18,000 fans came out in support of the Indian team. It was the Indian captain Sunil Chhetri who opened the scoring seven minutes into the game. Young Anirudh Thapa took a brilliant free-kick low into the box and Sunil Chhetri was there to make the most of it. He smashed it past the Kenyan keeper. A beautiful flick from the free-kick helped India take an early lead.

Chhetri sent the Indian fans into a frenzy when he doubled India's lead in the 29th minute. He converted a long diagonal pass, from Anas Edathodika, into a perfect goal. The Indian captain's first touch was fabulous. He chested the ball down with perfection before slotting it past the goal-keeper.
Records galore for Sunil Chhetri
Chhetri scored 8 goals in the 2018 Intercontinental Cup. This is a personal record for the Indian captain. Chhetri now goes level with Lionel Messi with 64 international goals to his name. The only active footballer with more international goals than Chhetri is Cristiano Ronaldo.
