Winner of India's first PUBG tournament to get Rs. 15lakh
India is getting its first major eSports tournament, as Tencent Games announced it will host the 'PUBG MOBILE Campus Championship 2018', a college level tournament with a prize pool of Rs. 50 lakh. Tencent has partnered with Oppo for this championship. The tourney will run from September 26 to October 21. It is part of Tencent's plans to expand into the Indian market.
A little about the tournament
PUBG MOBILE is one of the most popular games on Play Store. The PUBG Championship, organized by Tencent Games in India, will only be for college students across 30 cities. The finals will be held in Bengaluru.
How to register for the tournament?
The registration process for the tournament is simple. A player needs to participate in a squad of four, must have valid college identification and an official PUBG account. The players can register their squads on the official PUBG website. The registration started from September 7 and will continue till September 21. The person, who registers the squad, automatically becomes the squad leader.
Let the games begin
Members have to check in between September 22 and 23. Only the first 10,000 teams to check-in will qualify for the tournament. There will be four rounds of online qualifiers including the semi-finals, from September 26 to October 5. It will be streamed on social media. 20 teams will compete in the offline finals on October 20 and 21.
What kind of prizes are you looking at?
The winner of the tournament will win a cash prize worth Rs. 15 lakh. The second place squad stands to win Rs. 5 lakh. Third and fourth places get Rs. 3 lakh and 2 lakh respectively. There are special awards like MVP, Executioner, Medic, Redeemer. These will be awarded based on the performance in the finals. Register and good luck with the chicken dinner!
