Bangladesh vs India: Records that can be scripted tonight
What's the story
India and Bangladesh lock horns in the match number 40 of the ICC World Cup 2019 on Tuesday at Edgbaston.
A win for India will secure a place in the semis. On the other hand, Bangladesh need this victory to keep their campaign alive.
Several records could be scripted in this high-octane battle.
Here we look at the same.
Shami
Shami can surpass Anil Kumble with this feat
Mohammed Shami, who took 5/69 against England, now has 30 career World Cup scalps.
He needs two scalps to surpass legend Anil Kumble in terms of career World Cup scalps.
Shami could go on to become the third most successful bowler for India in the World Cup after Javagal Srinath and Zaheer Khan (44 wickets each).
Feats
Shami can script these records as well
Shami has taken 32 ODI wickets in 2019.
He needs three scalps to surpass leader Trent Boult (34).
Shami has 13 wickets in CWC 19.
Two more would see him move into the top five in terms of most wickets in CWC 19.
Shami (126) also needs four wickets to surpass current India coach Ravi Shastri (129) in terms of career ODI wickets.
Kohli
Kohli eyes a special World Cup record
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has amassed 969 career World Cup runs.
He needs 31 more to become only the third Indian batsman to score 1,000-plus runs in the mega event.
Kohli also needs 38 runs to surpass Sourav Ganguly (1,006) and become the second highest run-scorer for India in World Cup after Sachin Tendulkar (2,278).
Rohit
Rohit Sharma will be eyeing these records
Rohit Sharma (770) needs 30 more runs to become the seventh Indian to score 800-plus runs in World Cup.
He also requires 57 runs to get past former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin (826).
Rohit has amassed 996 runs in ODIs this year.
He needs four more to become only the third cricketer in amassing 1,000-plus runs this year.
Kohli (993) needs seven runs.
Rohit century
A century for Rohit could see him script these records
If Rohit scores another ton, then he will equal Kumar Sangakkara's record of most centuries in a World Cup edition (4).
He will also get to five career World Cup tons.
This will see him equal Sanga and Ricky Ponting (5 each).
Rohit can also score his fifth ODI century in 2019. He is currently tied with fellow leader Aaron Finch (4).
Shakib
Shakib eyeing a host of records
Shakib Al Hasan has scored 476 runs in CWC 19.
He needs 24 more to score 500 runs and join David Warner (516).
Rohit (440) needs 60 runs to achieve the feat.
Shakib needs another century to notch his third in CWC 19.
He could join the likes of Rohit (2019), Sourav Ganguly (2003), Mark Waugh (1996) and Matthew Hayden(2007) in scripting this record.
