Reasons why India can win the 3rd Test against England
India lost the second Test, at Lord's, against England by an innings and 159 runs. The third Test is set to start at Nottingham from Saturday. In 2014, Dhoni-led India had drawn a Test at this venue. Virat Kohli and Co. know that this ground will offer better conditions for batsmen. Here we list the reasons why India can win this match.
Indian bowlers can pick the required wickets
The Indian bowlers had a bad outing at Lord's. But, before that, they were in supreme form and had picked all 140 wickets in seven consecutive away Tests, including Edgbaston. With Jasprit Bumrah set to return, India will be in a better shape. Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma have done well in recent past and if they deliver, then half the job is done.
Kohli needs to score runs once again
Kohli has been the only Indian batsman who has shown composure. After slamming 240 runs in two Tests, he will look to score more and defy the Englishmen. With him being amongst the runs, there is every possibility that Kohli could keep India in the hunt. He has the attributes to stick around with the tail and that bodes well for the visitors.
Indian batsmen will be hungry to prove the critics wrong
India's batting flopped at both Edgbaston and Lord's. With all the criticism and flak the batsmen have received, they know they have to get back to the basics. There will be hungry to get some runs. The conditions will be better than that of Lord's and this could work positively. This is a must-win scenario and India will be on their toes.
Indian batsmen did well here in 2014
Last time, India had scored aplenty runs on this ground and that will give them belief to go about in similar fashion. Things haven't gone well for India, and they need inspiration from somewhere. Perhaps the outing in 2014 will be the answer.
