The Indian cricket team won its maiden Test series in Australia by a 2-1 margin. India won matches in Adelaide and Melbourne and that was enough in the end for them to script a historic feat. The BCCI is extremely satisfied with the performance of Virat and Co. and in turn has decided to reward the players. Here are the details.
All about the cash rewards for Indian team
The BCCI is set to hand cash rewards of Rs. 15 lakh per match for the players who featured in the playing XI. Meanwhile, the Indian cricket board will also give Rs. 7.5 lakh per match for the players who were on the bench. The coaching staff will also receive cash reward bonus of Rs. 25 lakh per match.
Several players to pocket maximum amount
The cricketers who were involved in all four Tests are set to benefit the most. Indian captain Virat Kohli alongside the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah played all the matches. These players will be bagging the highest amount. Meanwhile, the non-coaching staff will also get rewards equivalent to their salary.

Pujara could be in for an upgraded central contract
India ought to thank senior batsman Cheteshwar Pujara for playing a decisive role in their victory. The 30-year-old scored 521 runs in the series. Reports had claimed that the BCCI could be considering an upgrade of contract for the Test player. The BCCI has valued Pujara's contribution in the series and could now reward him. Pujara could be promoted to A-plus category.
