Rohit, Jaiswal power India to fastest team fifty in Tests
Team India has set a new record in Test cricket by scoring the fastest team 50 ever. This historic achievement happened on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. Openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with their aggressive batting, propelling India to this milestone in just three overs. Earlier in the day, the Tigers were folded for 233 batting first.
Openers' aggressive batting propels India to record
Rohit and Jaiswal were the driving forces behind India's record-breaking performance. Rohit demonstrated his explosive batting prowess by scoring 19 runs off just six balls, while Jaiswal raced to 30 from a mere 13 deliveries. However, their aggressive innings was halted when Mehidy Hasan Miraz clean bowled Rohit for 23 off 11 balls. They added 55 runs together as Rohit slammed his first ball for a six.
India surpasses England's record for fastest team 50
India's latest cricket milestone has them celebrating! The team has now claimed the record for the fastest team 50 in Test cricket, reaching the mark in just three overs. This has overshadowed the previous record held by England, who set the benchmark of 4.2 overs during a Test match against the West Indies back in July earlier this year.
Team India racing against time
India's ultra aggressive approach isn't too surprising as Day 2 and Day 3 of the ongoing Kanpur Test got entire washed out due to rain. After bowling out the visitors for 233, Rohit's team is now aiming to post a significant total in quick time to give them another chance to bowl out the Tigers. Notably, India are 1-0 up in the series.
