India beat Bangladesh: Here are the records broken
India qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. The Virat Kohli-led side beat Bangladesh in the match number 40 of the 2019 World Cup at Edgbaston. Batting first, India rode on Rohit Sharma's 104 to post 314/9. Mustafizur Rahman took a fifer. Bangladesh failed to chase down the target. Here's more.
Rohit equals Sanga's records
Rohit smashed seven fours and five sixes in a 92-ball inning. The senior cricketer scored his second successive ton and a fourth in CWC 19. The century saw Rohit equal legend Kumar Sangakkara's record of the most centuries in a World Cup edition (4). He also got to five career World Cup tons. He equalled Sanga and Ricky Ponting (5 each) with this tally.
Rohit surpasses a host of Indian legends with this record
Rohit became the seventh Indian to score 800-plus runs in World Cup (874). He overcame former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin (826), Virender Sehwag (843) and Rahul Dravid (860). He has the second most World Cup centuries for India after Sachin Tendulkar (6). Rohit now has five ODI centuries in 2019. That's the most number of ODI tons by a batsman this year.
Rohit second highest ODI run-scorer in 2019
Rohit went past the 1,000-run mark in ODIs this year and is the second highest run-scorer (1,100). He became only the third cricketer to slam 1,000-plus runs this year, before Virat Kohli joined in (1,019). Rohit now has the most number of sixes among Indian batsmen in ODIs. He surpassed MSD. He amassed his 26th career ODI ton. That's the sixth highest in ODIs.
Rohit and Rahul script this record for India in CWC
Rohit and KL Rahul (77) added 180 runs for the first wicket. This was the best opening stand in the 2019 World Cup. This was also the highest opening partnership for India in the history of the World Cup. Rahul (77) slammed his second fifty in CWC 19. This was his fourth career ODI fifty as well.
Rohit surpasses 500 runs in CWC 19
Kohli is just five runs away from 1,000 World Cup runs (995). He went past the 400-run mark in CWC 19 (408) and is the seventh highest run-scorer. Rohit surpassed the 500-run mark in the tourney (544) and is the current leader. He surpassed David Warner (516). Rohit became only the second Indian ever to score 500-plus runs in a World Cup edition.

In-form Shakib scripts a special record
Bangladesh's all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan became the first player to score 500-plus runs and take 10-plus wickets in a single edition of the ODI World Cup. Shakib (66) scored his sixth 50-plus score in CWC 19. He is now the second highest run-scorer in World Cup 2019 (542). The left-arm spinner has taken 11 wickets so far. He now has 260 career wickets.
Shami equals Kumble with this record
Mohammed Shami now has 31 career World Cup scalps. He equalled former Indian spinner Anil Kumble (31). Shami has raced to 14 wickets in CWC 19. He now has 33 ODI scalps in 2019 and is one short of leader Trent Boult (34).
Mustafizur registers this feat for Bangladesh
Mustafizur Rahman (5/59) became the second Bangladeshi bowler to take a fifer in the history of World Cup. It's also the second best performance after Shakib (5/29). This was Mustafizur's best bowling spell in ODIs this year. He raced to 25 ODI scalps in 2019. This was Mustafizur's fourth five-wicket haul in ODIs. He now has 98 career ODI wickets.

India started off on a strong note as the two openers set the tone with 180 runs. From there on, Bangladesh rallied back with regular wickets. Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni chipped in to help India get past 300. Fizz and Shakib were excellent. In reply, Bangladesh failed to forge a big partnership. Shakib played a lone hand for the Tigers.
