India and West Indies are set to lock horns in the three-match T20I series, starting February 16. Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host all three games (February 18 and 20). Here is the head-to-head record
India and West Indies are neck-to-neck as far as the T20I head-to-head series is concerned. The two sides have clashed in 17 matches, with India winning 10 of them. West Indies have won six, while one was washed out. Interestingly, India have won the last three bilateral T20I series against WI. WI last won a series against India in July 2017.
WI have won only one T20I in India
West Indies have won just one T20I in India (bilateral series). They lost the three-match T20I series 0-3 in November 2018. Rohit Sharma led India in that series in the absence of Virat Kohli. A year later, India won the three-match series 2-1.
Kohli, Rohit own over 500 runs against WI
Rohit and Kohli are the only two Indians with over 500 runs against West Indies in T20I cricket. Rohit has scored 519 runs against the Caribbeans at a strike rate of 141.41, while the latter owns 501 runs (strike rate of 154.62). Overall, Pakistan's Babar Azam is the only batter to have scored 500 or more T20I runs against them.
WI tour of India, 2019
In December 2019, India chased down 208 against West Indies in the second T20I. It is their highest successful run-chase in T20I cricket. Kohli smashed his highest-ever T20I score (94* off 50 balls). He struck six sixes in the innings. The former Indian skipper won his 12th Man of the Match award, the joint-most for a player in the format.
