    What's the story

Sri Lanka made a comeback in the second session on Day 1 of the ongoing first Test against India at the IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.

They got rid of Virat Kohli and Hanuma Vihari to break India's momentum.

Vishwa Fernando and Lasith Embuldeniya struck for the visitors in the second session.

India finished on 199/4 at the stroke of tea.

    Session

How did the second session pan out?

India resumed the second session on 109/2.

Hanuma Vihari, who was promoted to number three, completed his half-century.

Meanwhile, Kohli kept playing his shots.

The duo shared a 90-run stand before Embuldeniya knocked over Kohli (45).

Vihari (58) also departed three overs later.

Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten, having negotiated the rest of the second session.

    Milestone

    Kohli completes 8,000 Test runs

Although Kohli didn't play a big innings, he achieved a monumental feat. He raced to 8,000 runs in Test cricket.

He has become the sixth Indian to cross the 8,000-run mark in Tests.

Kohli is presently the sixth-highest run-scorer for India in the format after Sachin Tendulkar (15,921), Rahul Dravid (13,288), Sunil Gavaskar (10,122), VVS Laxman (8,781), and Virender Sehwag (8,586).

    Information

    Another milestone for Kohli

Kohli has become the second batter to score his 8,000th run in his 100th Test match. It was his 169th innings in Test cricket. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting was the first player to reach this landmark.
