1st Test: India bundle out Bangladesh for 149 in Chennai
Bangladesh have been bundled out for 149 in their first innings of the ongoing Test series opener against hosts India in Chennai. They managed this paltry score while responding to India's first innings total of 376. The Tigers had a hard time against the pacers as none of their batters could even touch the 40-run mark. India hence earned a massive 227-run first-innings lead.
A poor outing for Bangladesh batters
The Tigers never got going as Jasprit Bumrah drew the first blood, dismissing Shadman Islam. Akash Deep then trapped Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque on successive balls. Shakib Al Hasan (32) and Litton Das (22) added 51 runs after the visitors were reduced to 40/5. However, both set batters were dismissed in quick succession. Mehidy Hasan Miraz's 27* took Bangladesh to 149/10.
How did the Indian bowlers fare?
Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers, claiming 4/50 in 11 overs. Akash Deep (2/19) and Ravindra Jadeja (2/19) trapped two batters apiece. Mohammed Siraj also took two wickets as he gave away 30 runs in 10.1 overs. Ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who scored a century in the game, went wicket-less.
