    What's the story

India won the 3rd T20I rubber against Sri Lanka at the Mumbai's Wankhede stadium, completing a 3-0 series whitewash.

With a few hiccups in chasing 136, India managed to bring up the 5-wicket victory in a rather stretched out manner with essential contributions coming from Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey.

Let's look at the final match in numbers.

    SL innings

Early fall of wickets and target

Having already bagged the 3-match T20I series, India entered the 3rd T20I rubber against Sri Lanka with a relaxed 2-0 lead.

The Rohit Sharma-led side won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Wankhede stadium.

Sri Lanka saw a quick fall of wickets and failing to establish a steady partnership, the Lankans set up a target of 136 for the hosts.

Washington Sundar youngest to debut for India in T20I

At 18 years and 80 days, Washington Sundar became the youngest player to appear for India in T20Is. Rishab Pant was the previous player to hold this record when he made his debut for India against England in February 2017.

    Rohit Sharma in 2017

Second highest T20I run-scorer for India

Despite a lacklustre performance in the 3rd T20I, Rohit Sharma with a score of 27, increased his total T20I runs in 2017 to 283 from a total of 9 matches.

He is now the second highest T20I run-scorer for Team India this year, overtaking KL Rahul. At 299, Virat Kohli, of course, is the leading scorer for India.

    Data

37 matches won across all formats in 2017

After today's victory, India have won a total of 37 matches across all formats in 2017- 9 T20Is, 7 Tests, 21 ODIs. This is the second most number of wins by a team in a calendar year after Australia (38 wins, 2003).

    Data

Most sixes against a particular opposition in a calendar year

With 38 sixes against Sri Lanka in 2017 across all formats, Rohit Sharma has the most sixes by any batsman against an opposition in a calendar year. Chris Gayle held the previous record, 33 sixes against New Zealand in 2012.
