Ganguly bats for salary hike for domestic cricketers
Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly wants salaries of domestic players to be increased further. Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Ganguly cited that not every first class cricketer can go on to become Virat Kohli or Ajinkya Rahane, but they deserve a better pay. Despite BCCI increasing the salaries of domestic cricketers, Sourav feels it is insufficient given modern day demands.
Detail about the hike
As per the recently announced contracts, fees of domestic players have been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 35,000 a day. BCCI CEO Rahul Johri also stated that players will be paid their match fees right after the games get over.
Ganguly vows to push Johri for another hike
Ganguly stated that he will push Rahul Johri for further increase than what has been offered presently. He added that he is hopeful that players will see further rise as he vows to speak to Johri in the coming year. The BCCI CEO has commended Ganguly for propagating the salary issue of domestic players.
