Iga Swiatek smashes these records with third Rome title: Details
Polish world number one Iga Swiatek claimed her third Internazionali BNL d'Italia title by beating Aryna Sabalenka in a battle that lasted 1 hour and 29 minutes. Swiatek won the final 6-2, 6-3. With this win, Swiatek claimed her 21st career victory and a fourth title this season. The Pole won her 10th WTA 1000 title. Here are the stats.
Three-time champion in Rome
Swiatek has now won her last nine women's singles finals on the WTA Tour. The last time the Polish player lost in a final was to Sabalenka at Madrid last year. Rome is the third tournament where Swiatek has bagged three titles. The youngster has also won three titles at Roland Garros (2020, 2022 and 2023) and Doha (2022, 2023 and 2024).

Swiatek is now the second player in the Open Era to win three titles at the Internazionali d'Italia before turning 23 after Gabriela Sabatini. Meanwhile, she became the third player to win the title in Madrid and Rome in the same season after Dinara Safina 2009 and Serena Williams in 2013. Notably, all these players did it as World No. 1.
Swiatek makes history
As per Opta, Swiatek is the youngest player to win their 10th WTA-1000 title since the format's introduction in 2009. Serena Williams at 32 years 324 days and Victoria Azarenka at 31 years 29 days are ahead of Swiatek (22 years 352 days).
7 tournament wins on clay as World No. 1
Swiatek has claimed 7 of the 11 clay court WTA events entered as World No. 1. Only Chris Evert (9), Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf (8 each) won more titles after 11 tournaments played on the surface as number one.

Swiatek claimed her fourth title this season. She won the Qatar Open, Indian Wells Open and Madrid Open before this. She surpassed Elena Rybakina in terms of titles this season (3) and match-wins (36). With this win, Swiatek has raced to an 8-3 win-loss record over Sabalenka in their head-to-head meetings on the WTA Tour.
