Shakib shares communication concerns with BCB after passing bowling action
What's the story
Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has cleared his third bowling action reassessment in England.
The 37-year-old cricketer was upset with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for their handling of the matter.
He told Cricbuzz, "I don't have any complaints, but if the communication was better in that case, I would have been happier."
It hasn't been an easy road for Shakib to clear his bowling action over the last six months.
Controversy
Shakib's bowling action controversy and BCB's decision
The all-rounder had sought a week-long training camp with his childhood coach Mohammad Salahuddin before his first bowling test.
However, he couldn't get his action cleared in time for the Champions Trophy due to this delay.
With Shakib's recent batting performance not living up to the expectations, selectors were hesitant to pick him as a specialist batter.
Reported for dubious bowling action during a County Championship match in September 2024, Shakib was suspended from bowling.
Preparation
Shakib's extensive preparation for 3rd assessment
After being declared illegal by an independent evaluation, Shakib underwent two reassessments in England and India, both of which he failed.
Despite his requests to be included in the Champions Trophy squad, BCB ignored him.
After this setback, Shakib passed his bowling test after intensive training with Surrey head coach Gareth Batty for two weeks and Sirajullah Khadem (Nipu), a close friend from Bangladesh cricket circles.
Insights
Nipu's insights on Shakib's preparation and performance
Nipu, who played with Shakib in the 2006 U-19 World Cup, revealed Shakib was initially reported due to fatigue of bowling too much.
He said, "I believe he was reported because he bowled a lot in that match. When you push yourself too hard, especially when fatigued, minor changes in your action can occur."
However, Nipu confirmed Shakib has now got his sharpness and all his tricks.
