Here is the best XI of ICC World Cup 2019
The ICC World Cup 2019 continues to get better with each passing game. Further, the race to semis is still open for all the teams except South Africa and Afghanistan. As these teams continue to battle it out, we have picked the best XI of the tournament, based on the performance in the first half. Here it is.
David Warner and Rohit Sharma form the opening pair
Starting with the top-order, Australia's David Warner, who has been enjoying a lethal form, should open the innings. To support him, India's Rohit Sharma is the ideal man given his performance in four matches. He has been batting at an average of 106.66. At number three, Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan takes the spot, who has been the top scorer of the tournament so far.
Jos Buttler and Hardik Pandya: The big guns in middle-order
The middle-order should start with England's Eoin Morgan, who recently decimated the spin attack of Afghans. He is followed by Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi, who can produce a show with both bat and ball. At number six is Englishman Jos Buttler, who is a handy wicket-keeper batsman. India's Hardik Pandya can bat at number seven as the ideal finisher.
Amir, Starc and Bumrah headline the pace attack
We have gone ahead with four seamers. The bowling attack starts with New Zealand's Lockie Ferguson, who has been a surprise package this term. He would be supported by Australian seamer Mitchell Starc, who has been one of the top wicket-takers so far. However, the attack would be headlined by the deadly duo of Pakistan's Mohammad Amir and Jasprit Bumrah from India.
Morgan the skipper, Rohit as his deputy
Given the XI, Morgan is the right man to captain this side. He is an able white-ball captain, with excellent man-management skills. He also knows how to rotate his bowlers to perfection. His deputy would be Rohit. The Indian vice-captain has done a great job to complement the skills of his skipper.
Why don't Fab Four feature in this XI?
While selecting the team, we have kept the playing order as an important factor. At number three, there are several options including Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root and Steve Smith. Even though, all these four batsmen are genuine match-winners, but we went ahead with Shakib to have an extra spinner. If the order was not taken into consideration, all four would have featured.
