ICC Test Rankings: Shami breaks into top 10, Mayank rises
Team India thrashed Bangladesh in the first Test by an innings and 130 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami was superb once again as he claimed seven scalps in Indore. Meanwhile, opener Mayank Agarwal was the star after a commanding 243-run knock. Shami rises to seventh in ICC Test Rankings
Shami's 3/27 and 4/31 helped him rise up to eight places to the seventh position in the ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers. His 790 rating points are the third best for an Indian pacer with only Kapil Dev (877) and Jasprit Bumrah (832) having recorded more points. Shami has claimed 173 wickets in 46 Tests at 26.95. He has impressed largely since 2018.
Cummins leads the show, Bumrah and Ashwin keep their places
Australia's Pat Cummins continues to rule the roost atop with 908 rating points. Jasprit Bumrah, who is nursing an injury, keeps his fourth position intact. Senior off-spinner R Ashwin, who claimed four wickets in Indore, stays static on number 10 with 780 points.
Mayank rises to 11th, four Indian batsmen in top 10
Mayank, who has been in red-hot form in Test cricket, has moved up to 11th in the ICC Test Rankings for Batsmen. The Karnataka batsman has 691 rating points. Four Indian batsmen are in the top 10. Virat Kohli (912), Cheteshwar Pujara (790), Ajinkya Rahane (759) and Rohit Sharma (701) occupy second, fourth, fifth and 10th positions respectively.
ICC Test Rankings for All-rounders: Ashwin up to fourth
India's Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 60* in the Indore Test, is second in the ICC Test Rankings for All-rounders. Ashwin rose to fourth with 315 rating points under his belt. Meanwhile, West Indies' Jason Holder occupies the first position (472 points).
India consolidate their position in the Test Championship
Meanwhile, Team India strengthened its position at the top of the ICC World Test Championship table with 300 points. India have sealed six successive Test wins so far. Sri Lanka and New Zealand have 60 points each, followed by Australia and England who are on 56 apiece. Pakistan are set to play their first game of the WTC against Australia later this week.
