ICC Test Rankings: Pakistan hit record low after Bangladesh defeat
Pakistan have experienced a significant drop in the latest ICC men's Test Team Rankings, following their 2-0 series loss to Bangladesh at home. The team's ranking has fallen by two positions, landing them in eighth place. As per the ICC, Pakistan's rating points of 76 are their lowest since 1965. Prior to this series, Pakistan held the sixth position, but consecutive losses have pushed them below the West Indies.

As mentioned, Pakistan have dropped below seventh-placed West Indies in the ICC Test Rankings. Despite two consecutive wins, Bangladesh remain ninth but gain 13 rating points. Pakistan's defeat also pushed Sri Lanka to sixth spot. Australia, India, England, South Africa, and New Zealand form the top-five teams in the rankings.
Bangladesh script history in Pakistan
Bangladesh scripted history by registering their maiden Test series triumph over Pakistan. They clinched the series 2-0 after recording a six-wicket triumph in the second and final match in Rawalpindi. Notably, Bangladesh claimed their first-ever Test win over Pakistan earlier in the series. In the 2nd Test, they chased down 185, the third-highest successful run-chase by a visiting team in Pakistan.
Pakistan winless at home
The defeat marks a low point for Pakistan, who have not secured a Test victory on home soil since February 2021. As per Cricbuzz, Pakistan have now gone 10 Tests at home without a win (six losses and four draws).
Skipper Masood expresses disappointment
Pakistan skipper Shan Masood expressed his disappointment following the loss in the 2nd Test to Bangladesh. "Extremely disappointed, we were excited for the home season but the story has been the same as Australia," he said. He acknowledged that despite showing promise in Australia, they failed to deliver results and emphasized on areas of improvement for upcoming matches.
