ICC Champions Trophy- Dhawan, Kohli guide India to semis
India defeated South Africa in the 11th match of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Chasing 192, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli put on a 128 run partnership for the second wicket to guide India to a 8-wicket victory. India will face Bangladesh in the second semi-final on 15th June at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
A must win game for both the teams
After losing their previous games, India and South Africa meet each other in the first virtual quarter-final match of Group B. While both the teams are in form, they have seen unexpected results in the tournament. It will be an interesting game between ICC's first and third ranked team, especially when a Champions Trophy semis berth is at stake.
India decide to field after winning the toss
Indian captain Kohli decided to put South Africa to bat after winning the toss at 'The Oval'. On his decision to bowl first, Kohli said, "Teams generally like chasing, gives us a chance to do what we need to do when we come out to bat. Depends on what the bowlers offer us. When you bat second, you know what you need to do."
India squad
India made just one change in the playing XI, with Ravichandran Ashwin replacing Umesh Yadav. The squad - Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (Capt), Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (Wk), Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah.
SA manage to score 191 runs
Indian bowlers did a splendid job to restrict South Africa to just 191 runs in 44.3 overs. After a stable 53-run knock from Quinton de Kock, SA batting collapsed at an astonishing rate, losing 8 wickets in 16.1 overs with just 51 runs. With three run outs, South Africa fell apart even though JP Duminy tried reviving the innings.
Two wickets each for Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar
For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets each. Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya got one each.
