Umpire Ian Gould to retire after World Cup 2019
The ICC Elite Panel umpire Ian Gould is all set to call curtains on his highly successful career, as he would retire after the 2019 World Cup. He is also one of the 16 members who have been elected to officiate in the global event. Notably, this would be his fourth appearance in the mega tournament. Here is more about it.
Gould played cricket for England
Interestingly, Gould played 18 ODIs for England, scoring 155 runs, at an average of 12.91. Following a brief career as a cricketer, he joined ECB's First-Class umpire's list in 2002. He made his debut as an international umpire in 2006, during a T20I between England and Sri Lanka. As of now, Gould has officiated in 74 Tests, 135 ODIs and 37 T20Is.
Geoff Allardice: His presence on the field will be missed
ICC GM Geoff Allardice said, "Ian has made an outstanding contribution to the game over a long period, particularly in the last decade as an international umpire. He has always put the interests of the game first, and in doing so has earned enormous respect."

ICC World Cup 2019 gets underway from May 30
Even though it is unsure if Ian would officiate during England's home series against Pakistan prior to the World Cup, he is all set for the mega event, which gets underway from May 30. His home nation England would play the opener against South Africa. However, Gould won't officiate in the match as per the umpiring policy of ICC.
