The thrilling game was marred by ugly scenes after the umpires refused to award a no-ball, when Isuru Udana bowled a second short-pitched delivery in the final over.
Bangladesh needed 12 runs in the last over to win.
An agitated Shakib came down the stairs and waved at his batsmen to return to the pavilion. But senses prevailed and Bangladesh registered a momentous win.
