Europa League- Marseille vs Atletico: Dream XI
French team Marseille will face European powerhouse Atletico Madrid in the finale of UEFA Europa League at the Groupama stadium in Lyon. Both teams have fared well and have the resources to come out on top as they eye European glory. Atletico go in as the favourites, but will Marseille spring in a surprise? Here is our Dream XI team.
We go in with a 4-4-2 formation
Keeping the teams in mind, we are going ahead with a 4-4-2 formation. We expect a key battle in the midfield, especially with Atletico trying to seek the momentum. Their two forwards will be key in order to influence the game.
Oblak as the custodian and four-man defense
Jan Oblak is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and gets the nod. He was crucial in the semis. In front of him lie the Atletico pair of Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez. Atletico boast of a strong defense and they could be influential. Marseille duo of Bouna Sarr and Luiz Gustavo fill in the other two slots.
A strong 4-man midfield in offer
Spaniards Saul Niguez and Koke form the crux of the midfield. The energetic duo know the trades of how to come good on big occasions. They will be joined by the charismatic Dimitri Payet and Florian Thauvin. These two have been in good form as seen in the recent games and have also given fans a lot of points in the Fantasy XI.
Griezmann and Costa in attack
The two star players form the attacking line in the 4-4-2 formation. Griezmann scored the important away goal against Arsenal and is also the choice as the side's captain. Costa has been in good touch since joining the club in January. He scored the lone goal in the semi-final 2nd leg against the Gunners. Given his goal-scoring attributes, he is the side's vice-captain.
