Women's T20 WC: How ICC plans to combat toxic content
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered social media moderation tool for the Women's T20 World Cup. This innovative measure is aimed at shielding the cricket community from harmful online content. The tool, developed in partnership with GoBubble, will monitor and filter out toxic elements such as hate speech and harassment on official and player social media accounts.
ICC's commitment to positive, inclusive environment
Finn Bradshaw, the ICC's head of digital, expressed the organization's commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants and fans of the Women's T20 World Cup. He stated that it was encouraging to see many players and teams embracing this new initiative. Notably, more than 60 players have already signed up for this social media protection service.
Players express support for ICC's social media protection initiative
South Africa's Sinalo Jafta voiced her support for the initiative, highlighting the emotional impact of negative comments. She stated, "there is nothing worse than opening up your phone after a loss or after a victory and regardless of what side you find yourself there is always some degrading comment about your personality." "That protection for me is very big because players get to share their life with the world without the fear of being judged or criticized," she added.
