Fourth on the all-time list of most runs scored
Gambhir has played 148 IPL matches and has scored 4,132 runs at an average of 31.54 and a strike rate of 124.60. Gambhir boasts a top score of 93 and has scored 35 fifties in the 10 editions of the IPL so far. Gambhir is 4th on the all-time list of most runs scored in the IPL behind Raina, Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Led KKR to two IPL titles
Gambhir is one of the most successful captains in the IPL. The southpaw led Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles in 2012 and in 2014. Gambhir, who has also captained Delhi Daredevils, boasts a win percentage of 57.31. In 123 games that he has captained, he has won 70 and lost just 52.
Gambhir's IPL career kick started with a bang
Gambhir was the second highest run scorer in the inaugural season of the IPL. The left-handed batsman from Delhi scored 534 runs from 14 matches. The next two seasons did not turn out to be as prolific as his first, but he became the first Delhi's batsman to cross the 1,000 run landmark in the IPL.
KKR won two title riding on the back of Gambhir
In 2011, KKR picked up Gambhir and this turned out to be one of the most profitable deals for both the franchise and Gambhir. In the 2012 season, Gambhir scored 590 runs and led KKR to their 1st IPL title. In the 2014 IPL season, he led Kolkata to 9 consecutive wins, which is an IPL record and won KKR their second IPL title.
