India vs Spain Hockey: Rampal hands India their first win
The Indian women's hockey team claimed their first victory of the Spain tour as they beat the hosts 3-2 on Friday night. Skipper Rani Rampal scored a late winner in the third game to register India's first win in the five-match series. India are 1-1 level in the series after losing the first game 3-0 and then drawing the second 1-1.
Spain took the lead but India strike back
Spain opened the scoring courtesy of a well-crafted goal by Maria Lopez in the 3rd minute. India, however, fought back and dealt two back to back blows to Spain in a span of four minutes to take a 2-1 lead. The hosts equalized in the 58th minute through a penalty corner, however, Rani Rampal restored India's lead just minutes after.
Vandana misses out on a goal in her 200th match
The fixture was a special one for forward Vandana Katariya as she played her 200th international game for India. Unfortunately, Vandana couldn't find the back of the net to make it more memorable. With the series level, the focus now shifts to the fourth match of the series which will be played on Saturday night.
