The visitors were off to a sensational start as both openers Upul Tharanga (109) and Sanath Jayasuriya (152) slammed hundreds. New Zealand's top order was in full mood as they plundered the English bowlers in Wellington in 2015. It was a Brendon McCullum show as he hammered a 25-ball 77. He added 105 runs with Martin Guptill (22) in 7.1 overs. The Kiwis were 116/2 at the 10-over mark as they comfortably accomplished the 124-run target in just 12.2 overs.
