He reached the three-figure mark against New Zealand in the Pakistan Tri-Series at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, albeit in a losing cause.
Breetzke became the first-ever batter to score 150 on their ODI debut.

As mentioned, Breetzke now has the highest score by a player on their ODI debut.
He scored a 148-ball 150 (11 fours and 5 sixes), guiding the Proteas to 304/6. The 26-year-old also added a century-plus stand with Wiaan Mulder in his record-breaking knock.
However, the Kiwis chased the total down in 48.4 overs, with Kane Williamson scoring a ton.

Desmond Haynes: 148 vs Australia, 1978
In Lahore, Breetzke broke the record of West Indies legend Desmond Haynes.
The legendary Caribbean opener was off to a terrific start in ODI cricket. He slammed a match-winning 148 off 136 balls against Australia on his ODI debut in 1978.
West Indies racked up 313/9 in 50 overs and later won the match by 44 runs (revised target).

Breetzke has become the fourth South African to slam a century on ODI debut, joining the likes of Colin Ingram (124 vs Zimbabwe), Reeza Hendricks (102 vs Sri Lanka), and Temba Bavuma (113 vs Ireland).

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who is now Afghanistan's mainstay opener, announced his arrival in ODI cricket in style (in 2021).
He smashed a run-a-ball 127 against Ireland in the 1st ODI in Abu Dhabi. His knock was laced with 8 fours and 9 sixes.
Afghanistan, as a result, posted 287/9 in 50 overs. They later restricted the Irish side to 271/9.
