Wife accuses Indian pacer, Mohammed Shami of fixing matches
What should have remained a personal issue has been turned into an ugly public affair, as matter keeps getting worse for India pacer Mohammed Shami. His wife, Hasin Jahan has filed a police complaint accusing him of match-fixing. This comes just a day after the Kolkata woman accused Shami of having extra-marital affairs. So why has it gone awry for Shami suddenly? We elaborate.
Timeline of controversy and fixing allegations
On March 6, Jahan wrote a series of posts on Facebook, accusing Shami of cheating her. Further, she accused him of accepting money from a Pakistani woman under the influence of an England based businessman. Jahan stated that she has proof against her husband and has filed a complaint in Kolkata's Lal Bazar Police station.
Shami's response to his wife's allegations
Shami has hit back at his wife, regarding the new allegations against him of fixing matches, by claiming that she has lost her mental balance. According to reports, Shami accused Jahan of trying to sabotage his career. He added that she needs to prove all the allegations made against him and he is also planning to take appropriate legal action against Jahan.
Shami in a limbo
The pacer has been accused of infidelity, domestic torture and match-fixing by his wife. The BCCI has put his annual contract on hold after CoA chairman Vinod Rai stated that it was a tough call but was taken purely on ethical grounds.
Flashback 2014: Shami-Jahan's marriage
The two had got married in a hush-hush affair in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh in June 2014 after seeing each other for quite sometime. It was a private ceremony with close friends and family attending the same. The ex-model turned a housewife after marrying the pacer.
What next for the Bengal pacer?
Post these serious claims by Jahan, there are many questions that need to be answered. Will he be allowed to participate in the 11th edition of IPL? Or will depend solely on the management of Delhi Daredevils? After BCCI held his contract, will the Indian selectors snub him until further notice?
