Harshit Rana credits Rohit Sharma for successful ODI debut: Details
What's the story
Promising Indian pacer Harshit Rana has credited team captain Rohit Sharma for his successful One Day International (ODI) debut against England in Nagpur.
Despite a difficult start where he gave away 11 runs in his first over and 37 runs in three overs, Rana made a strong comeback.
He dismissed Ben Duckett and Harry Brook in one over, before taking Liam Livingstone's wicket.
Meanwhile, the debutant finished with figures worth 3/53 (seven overs) as India bundled out England for 248.
Game plan
Rana's strategy and Rohit's advice
Speaking at the innings break, Rana revealed that his main aim was to stick to his length, even after being hit for runs.
He said, "Initially, they attacked my bowling, but I didn't move away from my length, and eventually, I was rewarded for it."
The young pacer also revealed that Rohit's advice helped him stating, "That's what Rohit Bhaiya and I discussed—that I should bowl as tight as possible. And that's what I tried to do."
Pitch analysis
Rana's observations on pitch and debut journey
Rana observed that the pitch was double-paced with some balls kicking up suddenly while others were stopping a bit.
He also said he was happy to have debuted in all three formats for India in the last three months, thanks to hard work.
"I mean, it's a dream life, but I have worked really hard for this, so it feels like I am finally reaping the rewards of that effort," said Rana.
