Harshal Patel went on to claim a crucial three-wicket haul for Punjab Kings against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 58 of the Indian Premier League 2024 season in Dharamsala on Thursday. His brilliance in the 20th over saw him claim three wickets and concede only three runs as RCB managed 241/7 in 20 overs. Harshal is the first bowler with 20-plus wickets this season.
First bowler to scale 20-plus scalps
Playing his 12th match this season, Harshal has raced to 20 wickets at 20.00 (ER: 9.75). He is the only bowler to scale 20-plus scalps. Harshal, who clocked 3/38 from his four overs, has displaced Jasprit Bumrah for the IPL 2024 Purple Cap this season. Bumrah has 18 scalps from 12 matches at 16.50.
Second time Harshal has 20-plus scalps in a season
Playing his 103rd IPL match, the former RCB pacer has raced to 131 scalps at an average of 23.45. His economy rate is 8.72. Harshal, who was snapped up by PBKS for a whopping Rs. 11.75 crore at the IPL 2024 auction, has claimed 20-plus wickets for the second time in his career. He managed 32 scalps for RCB in IPL 2021 at 14.34.

Harshal has 17 scalps in Punjab's home matches this season. He averages 12.11 and his economy rate is 8.24. He claimed his 4th successive three-wicket haul for PBKS in their home games.
