T20 skipper Harmanpreet Kaur to play in Kia Super League
Indian women's cricket team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is set to play for Lancashire Thunder in the upcoming 2018 season of Kia Super League. The 29-year-old becomes only the second Indian to play in the T20 league after batswoman Smriti Mandhana. Harmanpreet will look to do well in the English league after having made history, in 2016, when she signed for Women's Big Bash League.
A great moment for Harmanpreet
Kaur hopes to thrive in familiar English conditions
Kaur stated that she has followed Kia Super League for a while and she cannot wait to finally play in the competition. She scored her career best score, last year, in the ICC Women's World Cup on English soil against Australia. This will give her immense confidence. She is expected to join the squad in the next few days.
Thunder head coach Blackwell excited about Harmanpreet
Lancashire Thunder head coach Alex Blackwell is buzzing after he was able to get the Indian skipper on board at the club. The coach added that Harmanpreet is someone he has played against at the international stage and also coached her in the Women's Big Bash League (BBL). Harmanpreet is vastly experienced and the club will hope she comes good for Lancashire Thunder.
Lancashire open campaign against Loughborough Lightning
Harmanpreet played well for India in the recently concluded T20 Asia Cup where she scored 156 runs. Her new team 'Thunder' finished bottom last season in the league and this time they open their campaign against Loughborough Lightning on July 22.
