Hanuma Vihari: News
There are batsmen who look lost when they are batting in a Test match. Then there are batsmen who feel absolutely at home when they are in the middle facing the red ball. Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari belongs in the latter. A batsman whose technique is devoid of any defects, Vihari walking into the field to bat in the middle-order will remind you of a fish in a pond. He began his first-class career for Hyderabad in 2010 but later shifted to Andhra. Despite playing across all formats, it was always clear that he was destined for Test cricket. He was part of the U-19 World Cup-winning team in 2012, but he had to wait for his opportunities with the national team. A part-time off-spinner, Vihari's bowling talents became visible when he took Chris Gayle's wicket in the first over while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL). With an average of around 60 in first-class cricket, it was impossible to ignore Vihari for a chance in the national team. In 2018, Vihari made his Test debut against England. His performance against West Indies in the 2019 tour ensured him a spot in the middle-order in Tests.
