As mentioned, confirming his resignation, Sarkar said he wishes to complete his tenure, which ends on February 26.
"Yes, I submitted my resignation letter to the board yesterday," he told Cricbuzz on Sunday (February 2).
He added, "I wish to have a career in coaching, and as a result don't want to continue as part of national selection panel."

Sarkar open to coaching role with BCB
Sarkar also said he would be open to a coaching role in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) set-up.
"If BCB feels that they can include me in as a coach in their set-up, in that case, I am ready to consider it," he said.

Sarkar, 42, represented Bangladesh in 17 Tests and 20 ODIs during his brief two-year international career.
He amassed 662 runs in Tests (AVG: 20.06) and 383 runs in ODIs (AVG: 19.15).
He later joined the BCB as an age-level selector, serving nearly a decade with the U-19 team.
Meanwhile, during his tenure, Bangladesh clinched the U-19 World Cup in 2020 and their first-ever Asia Cup (2024).
His success at the age level of cricket got him to the senior level.
