Indian Wells: World No. 1 Halep advances to third round
Women's tennis world number 1, Simona Halep continued her good form to advance into the third round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The Romanian beat Kristyna Pliskova in a 6-4, 6-4 victory. The 2018 Australian Open finalist, who had recently retired with injury from the Dubai Open, looked a bit shaky but grew on as the game progressed.
Kvitova wins marathon match, Muguruza stunned
Ninth seed Petra Kvitova survived a marathon second round match against Yulia Putintseva in the second round. She lost the first set before coming back to win 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. The game lasted for three hours and 18 minutes. 3rd seed and WTA player of 2017, Garbine Muguruza was stunned 6-2, 5-7, 1-6 by world number 100 and American youngster Sachia Vickery.

Kristyna Pliskova's identical twin and 5th seed Karolina won her match against Irina-Camelia Begu 7-6, 6-1. Naomi Osaka, who earlier beat Maria Sharapova, overcame another top fish Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3, 6-2. Britain's 9th seed Johanna Konta lost too.
India's Yuki Bhambri stuns Mahut in men's 1st round
India's top ranked men's singles tennis player Yuki Bhambri overcame France's Nicolas Mahut in 1st round of the BNP Paribas Open. Bhambri beat his counterpart 7-5, 6-3 in a gritty encounter that lasted one hour and 41 minutes. In both sets, after being down Bhambri turned it around to earn a 2nd round encounter against 9th seed Lucas Pouille.

Roger Federer will directly feature from the 2nd round as he opens his tour against Federico Delbonis on Sunday 8:30 AM. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic will be up against Taro Daniel later on Sunday night at 11:30 PM.
