Celebrated Indian cricket team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah recalled his childhood days and revealed that there was a time when he could only afford just one pair of shoes and T-shirt. The poster boy of India endured a difficult childhood after losing his father at the age of five. Here's what Bumrah said recalling his tumultuous childhood days.
Bumrah and his mother recall the struggles
Bumrah and his mother Daljit Bumrah recalled those days of struggle in a video tweeted by champions Mumbai Indians. Daljit recalled, "When he was five-year-old, I lost my husband." Bumrah said, "After that we couldn't afford anything. I had one pair of shoes. I used to have one pair of T-shirt. I used to wash them every day and use it again and again."

Bumrah is currently nursing a stress fracture
The 25-year-old is currently out of action due to a stress fracture on his lower back. He was ruled out of the ongoing Test series against South Africa and is also set to miss the next series against Bangladesh. He was replaced by Umesh Yadav. Bumrah took to Twitter and said he is aiming for a comeback that's stronger than the setback.
Bumrah has been in red-hot form in Test cricket
Bumrah, who is yet to make his Test cricket debut in India, will have to wait for now. He has been the pace spearhead for India in Tests in recent times. Since his debut in 2018, Bumrah claimed 62 wickets in 12 Tests, all away from home. He was in red-hot form against West Indies and claimed 13 wickets in two Tests.
Bumrah out till the end of November
"Jasprit is out for a period of seven to eight weeks minimum. This effectively rules him out of the World Championship games against Bangladesh. He is out till the end of November. That's how his medical bulletin is at the moment," an official told PTI.
