Guardiola reveals his favorites to win the Champions League
After a stunning Premier League victory last season, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola still does not feel his team is ready to win the Champions League. He thinks that City's UCL semi-final against Real Madrid in 2016 was the best point in the club's history. Guardiola has also named the clubs he considers the favorites to win the Champions League this season.
Guardiola's views on the favorites this term
The former Barcelona manager believes that Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus are the favorites to win the Champions League this term. "I believe Juventus buying Cristiano wanted to show that this year they want to win. They (have) reached the final twice, each time they get closer", he said. Pep is also optimistic regarding Atletico Madrid's chances of performing well this term.
How has been City's Champions League campaign this season?
Manchester City is among the two English clubs which might have a shot at the title (the other being Liverpool). City have played two UCL matches, losing the first one to Lyon and winning the second one against Hoffenheim. They are currently second on the table with three points, trailing behind Lyon with four. Next, they will be hosted by Shakhtar on October 24.
Guardiola in belongs to an elite list of players
Guardiola is among the seven individuals, to win the UCL both as a player and a manager. He won the European Cup in 1991-92 under the management of Ajax and Barca legend Johan Cruyff. As a manager, he won it twice with Barcelona.
