God punished Mo Salah for breaking his Ramzan fast
While several people, across the globe, have lashed out at Sergio Ramos and blamed the Real Madrid captain for injuring Mo Salah during the Champions League finale, an Islamic preacher claimed it was God who punished the Egyptian superstar. Mubarak-al-Bathali, an Islamic preacher, stated that God was unhappy because Mo Salah broke his Ramzan fast for the Champions League final.
Preacher thinks football no legitimate excuse to break Ramzan fast
The Kuwait based preacher said that football is not a legitimate excuse to break a fast during the holy month of Ramzan and Salah is facing repercussions of his actions. Interestingly, Mubarak-al-Bathali even went on to say that there was no excuse because 'jihadists' fast despite being in a state of war with the enemy.
Salah is an icon for Muslims worldwide
Salah is a devout Muslim and is an icon for Muslims across the world. The Egyptian King had initially said he would continue fasting. However, after consulting the club physiotherapist and nutritionist, he decided to skip his fast ahead of the final. Notably, Muslims are allowed to break their fast for travel purposes.
Salah was the preacher's only target
Mubarak-al-Bathali has courted controversy in the past with his open backing for terror group Al-Qaeda. This time, he only lashed out at Mo Salah for breaking his fast. He made no comments about Salah's Muslim team-mates Emre Can and Sadio Mane and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. All these players were a part of the Champions League final squad.
