Steven Gerrard departs from Al-Ettifaq after 18-month tenure

Former Aston Villa and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has parted ways with Al-Ettifaq, mutually.
Gerrard's exit comes after an 18-month-long stint at the Saudi Arabian club.
The former Liverpool captain joined Al-Ettifaq in July 2023 and signed a two-year contract extension in January 2024, intending to stay until 2027.

Al-Ettifaq's performance under Gerrard's leadership
Under Gerrard's management, Al-Ettifaq only managed to win five out of their 17 league matches this season.
The performance saw the club sitting just five points above the relegation zone.
Despite the challenges, Gerrard had said he respected the Saudi Pro League club and Saudi Arabia when he left. He had also expressed hope that Al-Ettifaq would be successful in the future.

Club president praises Gerrard's contributions
Al-Ettifaq's president, Same Al Misehal, praised Gerrard for transforming the club during his time.
He noted that while not everything went according to plan, the strong foundations laid by Gerrard guarantee a bright future for Al-Ettifaq.
Misehal stressed that this mutual decision was taken in the best interest of both parties as they look forward.
